Our bespoke service
Our premium service, which enables you to be part of the intimate process of creating a unique Ruth Tomlinson jewel. The result is completely one-of-a-kind, made only for you, with its own special story and meaning. This option is the perfect choice for you if you love our style and are comfortable with giving us the creative freedom to produce a truly unique jewel.
Customising existing designs
We can customise existing designs from our collections, adapting stone choice or precious metal type to suit your individual taste. Our team will work with you to select the design and stones that are perfect for you.
Resetting Commissions
We can also reset sentimental heirloom jewellery and family keepsakes, reimagining them into our contemporary creations. The personal story of the original jewel is retained in a new design that better resonates with you. Our team will guide you through the design options that are suitable for your particular jewels, and involve you in the process of creating a your special jewel.
Step 1: Get inspired
We recommend browsing our online collections and creating a wish list, scrolling through past bespoke creations on our Instagram feed, to get a sense of the direction you'd like to take with your commission.

Step 2: Get in touch with us
Contact us at info@ruthtomlinson.com to chat with a team member who will ask a few questions to get an idea of the direction you'd like to take on your journey with us.
From there we will book you in for a personal appointment, either at our
London atelier, or via video call.
Step 3: The process
After your appointment, we will refine the details of the commission and provide you with a quote over email.
Our approach to the creation of the jewellery is serendipitous and each piece comes to life at the work bench. This is where the organic and intricate details are formed, taking into account our signature style and the materials we're working with. We make each jewel entirely by hand, using age old techniques practiced by master craftsmen throughout history. Every jewel will reveal traces of the human touch, with no intention of being exactly replicated.
Due to the sculptural nature of the work, we do not offer detailed drawings, but rather we ask our bespoke clients to place their trust in our expertise. If you love the distinctive qualities of our jewellery, we are confident that we can create a jewel that is as unique and individual as the wearer.
Step 4: Gemstones
Whether we use gemstones from our extensive collection, or source them from our trusted suppliers specifically for the commission, you will have the opportunity to see them and confirm their suitability before work begins on the jewel. Unfortunately, we are unable to work with customer-sourced stones.
From start to finish, customising an existing design usually takes 8-10 weeks, this includes stone sourcing if necessary (however more unique stones can take a little longer to discover). Our full bespoke service process takes up to 12 weeks from start to finish, this takes into account design time, stone sourcing (if necessary), and the full making process.
Once your commission is complete, we’ll invite you back to the atelier to receive your new treasure and let you discover the tiny details and unique sculptural elements of the finished piece. If you’re unable to collect the finished piece yourself, we will provide imagery via email and ship your new treasure across to you.
Pricing
Our Bespoke Service:
The starting price for our premium bespoke service is £5000, you will be working alongside specialist member of our team in creating your unique jewel.
Customising existing designs:
Pricing for customising existing designs depends on the design in question and complexity of customisation. Please familiarise yourself our existing prices as customisations will be based on these.
Resetting commissions:
Rings - starting price of £2500
Bracelets or bands - starting price of £2000
Earrings or necklace: starting price of £1500
Please note that exact pricing will depend on the scope of the project and we recommend browsing our current collections on our website to familiarize yourself with pricing. All bespoke, custom and resetting commissions require a 50% deposit payable on confirmation of the commission - we regret this deposit is non-refundable.
